2013 RAMEY “NAPA VALLEY” CABERNET SAUVIGNON
While you may not be able to taste experience, every time I open bottle from David Ramey I begin to second guess that theory. David Ramey is simply one of the great pioneers in the California wine industry. Making wine for nearly 40 years, David Ramey helped put many iconic wineries on the map including Dominus, Rudd Estate and Jericho Canyon… Remarkably round, supple and abundantly complex, this stunning portrayal of Napa Valley terroir encompasses seven different AVA’s in Napa Valley including, St Helena, Oak Knoll, Carneros, Mt Veeder, Diamond Mountain, Oakville and Napa Valley.
Blending four of the five original Bordeaux varietals to create this remarkable composition with character and length, 80% Cabernet Sauvignon dominates the blend. This is a big, classic wine that beautifully showcases Ramey’s talent and experience as a winemaker extraordinaire. Kept for 18 months in barrel and with around 30 months in the bottle, this wine has developed into something truly special. With solid scores from Vinous, Wine Enthusiast and Robert Parker’s The Wine Advocate, I highly recommend a case.
