2013 MIDSUMMER CELLARS “CLARK-CLAUDON VINEYARD” CABERNET SAUVIGNON
$65.00 $65.00
Rollie Heitz is another prime example of world-class winemaking being passed down through genetics in his Midsummer Cellars Clark-Claudon Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon from Howell Mountain. Rollie grew up at his father’s (Joe Heitz) winery and many of the characteristics that led Heitz Cellars to become one of California’s most classic and Iconic producers clearly made it’s way into this bottle. This is certainly a wine that our tasting panel will never forget. After our first taste we loved it, and thought it showed immense potential to continue to evolve inside the bottle… A week later, we decided to test our theory, pulling the cork on the previously opened bottle and pouring another taste. It was ridiculously great and never in my career have I had a wine get better after being open for a week and not taste oxidized. Granted only about a glass had been taken out of the bottle and we keep our warehouse really cool, we were all amazed.
Nestled at around 1000 feet in elevation on Howell Mountain, the Clark-Claudon Vineyard produces fruit of exceptional concentration, depth and intensity. Spending 22 months in French oak barrels, this intensely powerful Mountain Grown Cabernet is drinking beautifully now, and promises another 15-20 years of pure enjoyment.
