2013 JOHN ROBERT EPPLER “NAPA VALLEY” CABERNET SAUVIGNON
Whenever fate, love and a little bit of luck come together in the world of wine, it’s something to pay close attention to. Here’s where it gets interesting… This wine was originally intended to be bottled as two separate Cabernets, one from Calistoga and another from Rutherford, and retail for $55/btl… When fate and love intervened, the winemaker John Robert Eppler relocated for marriage, and decided to also ‘marry’ the two higher end wine lots together into one Cabernet Sauvignon. The lucky part lands on you, and here’s an opportunity to enjoy this Cabernet Sauvignon, which we loved on our tasting panel, at less than 1/2 of it’s intended retail.
With great authority, this wine covers every inch of your palate in a bounty of silky black fruits, sweet creme de cassis, muddled black raspberry and espresso roast. Kept for 14 months in oak barrels, the 2013 blend includes a small amount of Petit Verdot, magnifying the velvety, voluptuous character to this wine, which is mmensely appealing… With just 9 barrels produced, one case likely won’t be nearly enough.

2013 JOHN ROBERT EPPLER "NAPA VALLEY" CABERNET SAUVIGNON
"Dark violet color. Exotic aromas and flavors of kidd leather, India ink in a clay jar, nut brittle, and dried currants with a satiny, vibrant, dry-yet-fruity medium-to-full body and a smooth, intricate, long berry tart, marinated olives, and cedar finish with silky, fine tannins and moderate oak. An artfully balanced and sensuous cabernet sipper with an Old World flair...."
