2013 ALTVS “NAPA VALLEY” CABERNET SAUVIGNON
$75.00 $75.00
As the second label for MERUS, a cult producer whose Cabernet goes for around $165/btl, ALTVS delivers a wine of remarkably high quality, without the lofty price tag that generally accompanies them. Having access to many of the same tools, techniques and terroir that go into creating Merus, winemaker Dave Lattin and consulting winemaker David Ramey are producing one of Napa Valley’s top second wines from this highly regarded Estate…
Checking in at 88% Cabernet Sauvignon from Napa Valley’s highly acclaimed Coombsville region and 12% Petit Verdot from Yountville, the 2013 ALTVS spends an impressive 25 months developing in oak barrels before release. On the palate this wine is remarkably detailed, focused and brilliantly complex, checking off every box on my list of what to look for in a top quality Napa Valley Cabernet.

Winery Notes: "The Altvs comes from selecting barrels that showcase fruit and pure varietal character that is more feminine than masculine within the context of the vintage. Our 2013 Altvs is a classic beauty offering up fresh black current or cassis-like fruit on the nose - a product of fermenting Coombsville Cabernet at low temperatures in small closed-top fermenters. Hints of violet on the palate are classic to the Petit Verdot varietal. The wood is restrained in flavor but present in structure to create a thick, succulent and classic mouthfeel."
